Divorce without wife as witness, cutting relations with relatives

Question: If a man says that he has divorced his wife 3 times, but the wife did not hear the husband say this, does it still mean that they are divorced?

Answer: There are no witnesses required for a divorce to take effect. It is enough that he says the words necessary for divorce, even if he is all alone.

Question: Is it okay to cut relations with family members because they are not practicing muslims and they encourage their OWN kids to do things against Islam?

Answer: I asked Dr. Ahmad Al-Kurdiy on the Fatwa Council in the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in Kuwait. He said: "No, but one should advice them and try one's best to encourage them to correct their behavior."
